This April 2011 members from the Fitness, Team Sports, Recreation, Apparel and Equipment Industries convened for SGMA’s 4th Litigation & Risk Management Summit (LRMS) in New Orleans, LA at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, hosted by SGMA’s Legal Task Force and sponsored by Biodynamic Research Corporation (BRC), JP Research Inc., Engineering Systems Inc. (ESI), Exponent, Applied Safety & Ergonomics, Inc., and Bureau Veritas Group. Our 4th Annual LRMS was a great success and it could not have happened without the great speakers and participants that we had for the day.

Throughout the remainder of the year as legal issues evolve and new one’s arise we will be sure to communicate them to you. In some cases, when necessary, we will also host conference calls/webinars on the issues.

Attendees of this year's summit, had an opportunity to learn the latest legal issues that our industry are currently impacted by or will be faced with this year. Our 2011 LRMS aimed to provide attendees with a dynamic opportunity to represent and protect their company's best interests by meeting with industry legal experts and in-house counsel face to face to discuss the latest items of importance and pressing legal issues facing the current sporting goods and fitness industry. Like our previous LRMS events, our 2011 Summit preceded the Defense Research Institute’s (DRI) 2011 Product Liability Seminar, which was held at the same venue as the SGMA LRMS on April 6. Schedule of 2011 LRMS Events:

• APRIL 4, 2011 - SGMA's Legal Task Force NCAA Basketball Bash - 7:30PM to 11:30PM CST

Since the night of the NCAA Finals took place on April 4, the SGMA Legal Task Force hosted an open bar cocktail party with heavy hors d'oeuvres to provide an opportunity for Registered 2011 LRMS Attendees & Speakers (Only), who arrive on the 4th, to join one another to network and watch the NCAA Championship Game on TV. This year's Basketball Bash was hosted by Engineering Systems Inc. (ESI).  

• APRIL 5, 2011 - SGMA's Litigation & Risk Management Summit - 7:15AM to 5:00PM CST

On the morning of April 5 the day of interactive sessions led by industry legal experts and our Legal Task Force were held with several intermissions and meals scheduled throughout the course of the day. The 2011 LRMS agenda and additional event details are provided below.

Upon the conclusion of our 2011 Summit attendees (who are also DRI registrants) were also welcome to attend the DRI Welcome Cocktail Reception from 6:00PM to 7:30PM CST.
